Blaby District Council Refuse Collection Dates for Christmas and the New Year

All residents should have received a 'calendar' of collection dates for 2019 and especially for Christmas and the New Year.

Blaby District Council changes Council Tax Support Scheme and Liability Charges

Blaby District Council's Cabinet Executive has approved plans to amend the current Council Tax Support Scheme from 01 April 2019 and to make amendments to Council Tax liability charges on second homes and empty properties.

Dementia Friendly Partnership Wins National Award

The Blaby District Dementia Action Alliance has won "Dementia Friendly Rural Community of the Year" in the Alzheimer's Society's Dementia Friendly Awards.

The Alliance has helped to make over 9,000 people become 'Dementia Friends,' with over 60 'Dementia Champions' also created to help encourage others to make a positive difference to people living with dementia in the community.

Remembrance Garden opens as Council re-signs Armed Forces Covenant

A new remembrance garden has opened at Blaby District Council to commemorate those who lost their lives in war, as the country marks the 100th anniversary of the end of World War One.

Four prosecuted for collar and tag offences

Four residents in the district have been prosecuted for failing to ensure their dog has a collar and tag with updated contact details.

The Control of Dogs Order (1992) makes it the law for a dog to wear a collar bearing the name and address (including postcode) of the owner engraved or written on it, or engraved on a tag.
